My work reveals the rhythm and movement of the undercurrents and overcurrents of the unseen moving in the physical realm. The work stems from my fascination with the intersection of verticality and the horizontal, or the meeting place of the infinite and the linear. Quantum physics describes the universe as an ocean of particles in constant motion informing the physical and subtle worlds. These paintings are an exploration of this movement, and what animates our world. Included in this exploration are individual and collective perceptions of Spirit, or the awareness of Truth.
To emphasize this notion of the seen and unseen, I use layering of the oil paint itself and layers of different information sets. The work integrates the visual vocabulary of Persian carpets and tile work, tracings of electron movements in bubble chambers, medieval illuminated manuscripts, and abstracted forms from the natural world. In placing these different sets of information together the work aims to incite in the viewer the exploration of the mystic within, beyond the context of any particular belief system.
