What an amazing night last night was. Four ladies of Gee's Bend, Alabama – Mary Lee Bendolph, Louisiana Bendolph,
Loretta Bennett and Nettie Young - spoke about the quilts they make, as well as their personal stories. There was even
singing. It was amazing to see the Gee's Bend quilts at The Whitney a number of years back, to see art being make
out of worn out clothes because these resourceful women wanted to keep their families warm. There is art everywhere.
This lecture was in conjunction with the Elizabeth Leach Gallery and the accompanying exhibition, Gee’s Bend from October 4-27th. The exhibition features recent quilts and prints.
