Mark Woolley is presenting a show at his gallery about the color blue in October. This one
follows in the footsteps of the Red show a couple of years ago. Ah color. I got to contemplating color- how it
affects us, how many colors there are. 15,000? Do we all see them the same? With our individually physiology,
and experiences and associations, most likely not.
There is a theory that being
able to see the color blue is an evolutionary step, that we as human beings had to reach a certain point to be able to see
the frequency called blue. Ancient artifacts seem devoid of the color- one can find reds and yellows, but no blue.
Blue is a new comer on the evolutionary scale. imagine what other colors are out there, that we may not being seeing
now. What will be the "new black."
Meanwhile-
wanted to mention the lovely Affair At The Jupiter Hotel in Portland earlier this month.
What
a great way to see a whole bunch of art in a short amount of time. Had to go twice. It's a great event, and
included a momento purchasing opportunity- a book about the business of doing art that is unique and worthy. Only wish
the book included some back stories about the visuals. Got to hear some in person at the panel discussion at the affair-
enhanced the book greatly.
It is amazing how art can bring people together. Look at Ben Pink's soon-to-be-legendary
theme shows at Launchpad Gallery. These openings are packed with the most amazing people and art. I like meeting
the other artists and then looking at our pieces together and talking shop. It is always a joy to be in these shows.
Ben pulls off these epic shows that mix a bit of everything and still manage to look elegant.
A true feat. Here's to this show called "Secrets" being relentlessly talked about.
